Job Summary

The Clinical Care Assistant Lead aids in the examination and treatment of patients, under the direction of a physician or nurse in Medical Centers. This is a medical assisting position for an experienced individual in the healthcare field who holds a Medical Assistant Diploma and a National Medical Assisting Certification CMA or RMA. This Clinical Care Assistant also holds additional certification in peripheral intravenous access. This Clinical Care Assistant is expected to perform duties under their scope unsupervised and be considered the superuser for their peers by upholding leadership skills. The position will require some nights and weekends.

Interview patients, measure vital signs and record information on patient charts. Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed. Gives direct patient care and performs indirect patient care activities and laboratory tests under the direction of a physician or nurse. Take appropriate action to maintain a safe and aesthetic environment. Performs EKG, and administration of vaccines and medications via IM/SC/ID/Oral and assists in procedures/treatments as requested by physician. Performs lab work as per physician orders and prepares instrumental equipment for sterilization. Insertion and preparation of peripheral intravenous catheter (IV line) and administration of fluids as directed by the physician. Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures. Checks equipment and supplies prior to use for function, inspection and expiration date; reports malfunction of medical equipment and safety issues to supervisor. Maintains quality control (i.e. Glucometer, eyewash, refrigerator temperature and autoclave) and cleaning logs as needed for the department. Complies with Infection Control and OSHA Regulations (biomedical wastes, handling and disposal) for the center as per regulations. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Degree of teamwork and cooperation with personnel from other departments.  Maintain the logging system for different procedures as required and enter nursing procedures and other information in the computer system.  Check medical records and follow up obtaining missing results prior to patients' appointment. Able to rotate weekends, holidays, shifts and center location according to company needs. Monitor and enforce daily pre-visit planning and adherence to status changes in eCW performed by MA staff. Serve as communication liaison between Medical Office Manager, Providers and MA staff to assure better patient flow.  Ensure all supplies/forms are fully stocked. Assist with preparing clinical supplies orders for Office Manager and/or Nursing staff.  Monitor eCW inbound messages and buckets to ensure they are being answered in a timely manner.  Monitor available appointment slots including canceled, missed, no show visit status and work with the team to fill those slots.  Support Patient Engagement efforts in the center including training and enforcing the Patient Portal.  Support periodic training and/or re-training as scheduled by the Medical Office Manager and/or Nursing Staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
