Summary
The Applications Lead is responsible for management, strategy and standardization for clinical applications, next generation sequencing (NGS) and other genomic and transcriptomic data analyses and database functions. Develops and provides bioinformatics support and leads the data analysis, method development, software evaluation, and training in order to advance clinical molecular diagnostic testing. Designs and manages multiple complex databases, clinical software applications and interface programs and projects with simultaneous implementations. Ensures plans and schedules are followed, develops solutions to challenges, and directs others for successful completion of projects on time and within budget. Responsible for implementation and ongoing maintenance of software applications and interfaces. This individual leads the clinical molecular applications team to execute goals and objectives for the molecular pathology section. This individual establishes, develops, and maintains working relationships with the Pathology Informatics Liaison, relevant Information Technology teams, and vendors to facilitate the implementation of solutions for all clinical applications, systems interfaces, and databases. This individual manages the allocation of work to the appropriate resources and motivates assigned team members.
Minimum Required: Describe the minimum length (use specific number of years, not a range) and type of work experience required to successfully perform the job.
Seven (7) years of experience with Master's Degree or five (5) years of experience with PhD in bioinformatics with prior experience in the processing and analysis of next generation DNA sequencing, microarray, comparative genomics, or other high-volume genomics data is required.
• Experience using tools such as: C, C++, PERL, HTML, JAVA, XML, Python, MATLAB, or SQL is required.
• Experience with performing statistical analyses such as with R is required.
• Exceptional analytic, conceptual, and problem-solving ability is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals is required.
Preferred:
• Experience with computing clusters and linux operating systems is highly desired.
• Experience in clinical molecular laboratory environment is highly desired.
• Experience in oncology and/or oncological research is highly desired.
