Lead Clinical Technician

De La Pena Eye Group, a Covenant Physician Partner located in Van Nuys, is looking for a Fulltime Clinical Lead Technician to join our busy and growing team.

This role will operate Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.

Please note the pay range for this position is $26-$27/hr.

About the Opportunity

The Clinical Lead will attend to patients/customers on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize daily responsibilities congruent with physician schedules. Assist physicians with giving the highest quality of care to every patient/customer. Triage patients/customers, complete review of systems, and prepare each patient/customer for the upcoming physician examination. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform medical procedures under supervision of physician or physician assistant/nurse practitioner. Escort patients/customers to exam rooms, interview patients/customers, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s/customer’s electronic chart. Schedule appointments and procedures, maintain medical records and sure proper chart documentation. Give instructions to patients/customers as instructed by physician or physician assistant/nurse practitioner. Ensure all related reports, labs, x-rays and information is available in patient’s/customer’s electronic medical records prior to their appointment. Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments (if necessary), prepared sterilization (if necessary) if required. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/customer/physician/nurse practitioner/pharmacy calls. Triage and process messages from patients/customers and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants/nurse practitioners.  Maintain all logs and required checks (ie: sample drug closet, refrigerator logs, medications, expired medications, vaccines, etc.).  Perform Prior Authorizations for patients/customers that require specialty pharmacy restrictions for specific medications.

 About the Candidate

High School Graduate or equivalent.

5 + years working in the healthcare field. Previous experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Supervisory experience required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis.

Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications.

Perform Prior Approvals for Specialty Pharmacies.

Excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish and English.
