The Lead Clinician is responsible for coordinating providing mental health screenings and counseling intervention services, as well as continually monitoring and documenting children’s mental well-being and overall adjustment to the Unaccompanied Minor’s program. The clinician’s functions are performed as part of a multi-disciplinary team and include development and implementation of client service plans, facilitating transfers, referrals, and reunification planning. All duties will be performed based on education, training and certified counseling experience within the social service field. The Lead Clinician is subject to work extended hours and weekends, and to be on-call as needed
Essential Functions: Coordinate clinical services by providing oversight, and training of staff clinicians, monitoring clinical services documentation, and developing and maintaining ongoing partnerships with third-party, community-based providers.Coordinate intake, admission, and screenings with children, and document results according to SWK standardsCollaborate with treatment team members and children to develop service plansCoordinate that all children receive one-to-one counseling and crisis intervention as neededCoordinate that all children receive educational and participate in counseling groupsContinually monitor the mental well-being of children and arrange for appropriate third-party services as neededProvide consultation and documentation regarding clients’ functioning, mental health status, and treatment needsProvide clinical services within Southwest Key, in accordance with licensing and funding source guidelines as neededParticipate in and comply with all meetings, assignments, process improvement, and quality improvement initiatives as assigned by supervisor Other Functions: Attend all organizational requiredAttend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information on policy changes or practices is adhered to.Assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations located within the S.Maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free workEnsure the proper supervision of youth at allRespond to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements:These requirements may be waived with written approval from the ORR Project Officer
Master's degree in social work (MSW) and five years of full-time direct service delivery experience OR A master's degree in psychology, Counseling, or other relevant behavioral science fields in which clinical training and experience is a program requirementLicensed to provide clinical services in the State where the care provider is locatedFor Texas: LPC, LMFT, LCSW, Psychologist.One year of supervisoryTwo years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience conducting clinical interviewing and assessment, as individual and group counseling.Experience working with children, youth, and/or families from high-riskSuccessful completion of 86 hours of pre-service training and jobRequired to work a flexible schedule to facilitate programCleared Tuberculosis testCleared background check from appropriate(English/Spanish)Cleared drug test (Texas programs only)Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.Compliance with annual requirement of 50 training hours as mandated by SWK, ORR, and state licensing standardsAbility to communicate well both verbally and in writingMust be at least 21 years of age at the time ofPreferred
Experience working with children and youth in inpatient, residential, or detentionExperience working with unaccompanied children and/or refugees Physical Demands:Must be able to obtain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to
supervise children indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15 lbs. are required to complete daily tasks.
Work Environment:This is a twenty-four-hour residential facility at which children receive various services. It requires three shifts to cover a twenty-four-hour period, which are subject to change. Noise level varies from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoor, with occasional outdoor monitoring or activities.
