Complete Description: The Lead Computer Operator (CO) is responsible for the preparation and operation of teleprocessing computers and peripheral equipment. The Computer Operator works on various mainframe and network equipment to troubleshoot issues and restore operability based on established procedures of the State DTI. The Computer Operator also monitors the computer and network infrastructure, data center environmental controls and physical security systems to take appropriate action as required.
Preferred Education: 2 year college degree or equivalent technical study in computer operations fieldRole Description: -Operate multiple systems and computers for enterprise wide systems.-Monitors all production jobs that run on the mainframe and the client server environment at DTI-Monitors all essential systems and applications consistently. -Interact with the Mainframe and Data Baes staff at DTI, the UI IT staff, end users and managers.-Solicit calls to IBM and OMB(facilities) vendors for maintenance or problems on equipment and building related issues. -Schedule batch jobs from requests. Also, making batch job changes per request. -Prepare tapes for offsite storage and receiving tapes coming back from offsite storage-Perform building and Data Center walkthroughs. -Escort visitors to Data Centers or other secured areas. -Deal with confidential data on a daily basis.
This position is a swing shift position. This position will rotate, monthly, from a shift of 7:00 AM-7:00 PM to an opposite shift of 7:00 PM-7:00 AM. Also, the schedule fluctuates with the pattern of 5 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on (repeat). This results in weeks where the contractor will work 40 hours and others working 35 hours.
