About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer.
In this role, you will:
Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls
Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
Lead Control Management project or virtual teams
Required Qualifications:
9+ years of overall experience in Risk Management or Financial Services industry, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
Participate in mitigating current and emerging risk exposures associated with the activities and operations of the assigned business group and identify opportunity for process improvements within the scope of defined business control responsibilities.
Review and analyze basic business challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives.
Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgment while developing Control Management functional area expertise.
Provide support in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as front-line liaison to Independent Risk Management area.
Collaborate and consult with Control Management team and key stakeholders, including internal customers.
Support business with risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that effectively mitigate risks and appropriately address requirements of applicable statutes, regulations, and risk governance documents.
Receive direction from supervisors and exercise judgment within defined parameters while developing understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Provide information to managers, functional colleagues, and key stakeholders, including internal customers after monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the impact of decisions on the relevant business group and enterprise function.
9+ years of Operational Risk Management experience within corporate and investment banking-risk, control, advisory experience is preferred.
Superior project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent understanding on Operational Risk Events (ORE)- Loss Events & Near misses.
Proficient in understanding and executing ORE activities across all phases, Internal and External Operational Risk Events.
Experience in corporate and investment banking, its products and services, and relevant risks and controls of the business is a key requirement for this role.
Advance MIS/ reporting experience is a must of this role, Candidate is expected have a very good understanding on Advanced excel functionalities, Power BI and Tableau expertise.
Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) concepts and policies across risk types (regulatory, financial crimes, credit, operational, etc.)
Experience interpreting and applying state, federal, and agency legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal); ability to concisely articulate complex concepts in a clear manner.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Highly professional, adaptable, and pro-active mindset
Involvement in the technical build-out and/or support of databases, query tools, reporting tools, BI tools and dashboards that enable analysis and data visualization.
Ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate.
Ability to conceptualize, develop, and deliver quality analysis and highly actionable management information.
Demonstrated capacity to pro-actively and independently analyze and solve problems and address risks with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
Act as the point of contact for team members withing controls management and partners in business, IRM, Wells Fargo Audit, regulators, and other constituents, as needed; ensure that all inquiries are responded to appropriately and in a timely manner.
Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA): Guide the CIB business leader(s) through detailed risk and control evaluations.
Identify, capture, and enrich internal OREs in the ORE system of record. Review events for accuracy and completeness.
Contributions across ORE phases, Internal and External Operational Risk Events.
Actively Coordinate with ORE Coordinators, Reviewers, BCM and second line partners in driving ORE to closure.
Performing RCA analysis on events and ability to drive engagements independently.
Lead operational Risk program projects by collaborating and supporting key stateside partners in developing project plans and procedures.
Ensure alignment of event details against source documentation as applicable, and upload source documentation into the document repository.
Review challenge feedback received from independent risk management teams and make relevant updates to the events to resolve challenges, as required.
Management Reporting: Establish and update regular risk reports for communication of risk ratings, issues, and key topics.
Designing and developing various Governance, Operational reports in partnership with Stakeholders
Ability to handle huge data and has strategic mindset, ability to interpret and draw conclusion from complex data.
Follow and adhere to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
