Lead Controls/Building Automation Engineer III

These services include site acquisition, design, and construction to full operations, maintenance, and deconstruction.

Responsibilities and Duties\: The Controls Building Automation Engineer III is a highly skilled professional responsible for designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems for mission critical building automation systems, BMS systems specifically.  This position will be in support of projects in Northern Virginia.

Duties include\:

 • Leads design, maintenance, modification, and commissioning of controls systems.

• Leads install, replacement, and re-commissioning of control devices, equipment, and software.

• Advanced knowledge of diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues with controls systems.

• Leads required systems and sequence of operation testing.

• Communicate via emails, service tickets, reports, commission sheets, etc.  This would include interfacing with Project Managers, engineering, programmers, installers, and customers.

• Coordinates detailed point-to-point check-outs and evaluations of mechanical, electrical, and access control systems to ensure proper installation and operation.

• Ensures maintenance of accurate As-Built drawings and compliance with all turnover documentation requirements.

• Leads field team in calibration of systems using basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters and a laptop computer.

• Leads field team in troubleshooting and commissioning of software programming.

• Leads field team in training of building automation systems to customers.

•  Responsible for completing paperwork on-time, including timesheets, work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports.

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.

Experience\:

• At least 8 years experience in programming HVAC control systems preferred

• Strong knowledge of HVAC control systems and protocols such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus required

• Strong knowledge of Distech and Carel controls solutions required

• Advanced working knowledge in HVAC mechanical and/or electrical systems required

• Advanced troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems required

 General Skills\:

 • Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

• Strong observation and decision-making skills.

• General knowledge of MS Office (Excel) required.

• Must be able to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Must be available to travel as needed is required

• Must be eligible to work for any US employer without current or future visa sponsorship

Right and/or left hands utilized. Need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and work at heights.
