The Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke is seeking a talented and skilled individual to join our team as a Lead Cook. The ideal candidate is passionate about building meaningful relationships and can provide outstanding service to our veteran resident and staff populations.
Duties and Responsibilities (theseare a general summary and not all inclusive):
Prepares 2 main meals, breakfast and lunch,according to standardized recipes and tallies. Performs various kitchen assignments such as portioning food, storing food at proper temperature, cleaning/sterilizing equipment and work areas. Responsible for completing a daily opening checklist.Supervises Cook I and Dietary WorkersAssists in other department duties as necessary.Schedule:
Full-Time; Forty (40) hours per week, working 5:30 am – 2:00 pmAlternating weekend and holiday scheduleNote: This is 24 hour/7 days a week long-term care facility and as a result, the Veterans Home at Holyoke may require this individual to be present during nontraditional hours when circumstances dictate the operational needRequired Qualifications:
Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the handling, preparation and cooking of food.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of correct sanitary procedures for kitchen equipment.Ability to read recipes and measure accordingly.Knowledge of ServSafe standards.Ability to deal tactfully with others, to include ability to supervise and assign work to staff.About the Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke:
