LOCATION: Herberger Center – Phoenix, Arizona

STATUS: Fulltime-40 hours week

The Salvation Army Phoenix Family Services is looking to fill a Lead Cook position. The successful candidate for this position will five plus years of food service experience with some supervisory experience, previous experience with menu planning and be a self starter. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, free membership and more.

The Lead Cook will plan healthy meals, cook and assist with the preparation of meals for residents of the Shelter adhering to Department of Public Health requirements. This person will supervise, train and orient cooking staff. This position will receive food deliveries and donations and ensure all food is dated and stored properly and used in a first in first out pattern.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED required Graduate of certified cooking school preferred Five years food service experience required 3 years of supervisory experience required Must have at least two years cooking and menu planning experience Able to work as a team member and well with others Good communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter A positive attitude and ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities Must possess current City of Phoenix Food Service/Sanitation Certificate Must possess, or be eligible to receive, a fingerprint clearance card Able to operate the equipment available while doing the required job function

Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
