Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. Sargent and Lundy (S&L) is looking for an individual who is capable of handling various roles in the project management field including cost estimating, project engineering, and scheduling and project controls.

 

As a Cost Estimator, you will be assigned to work on project activities associated with the following:

 

Perform material quantity take-offs, labor pricing, and work with vendors to obtain material and equipment costing to support the development of construction cost estimates (rough-order-magnitude; conceptual; construction; fair-cost)Understand and apply appropriate mark-ups and productivity factors as requiredOrganize and assemble construction cost estimatesCoordinate information flow and schedules with project team members to complete estimates on timeOrganize and input cost and quantity information into existing Excel databasePrepare cash flow, escalation, and interest calculations for estimatesDevelop Estimate Basis documentsCoordinate the development of design drawings, engineering analyses, and construction specificationsAuthor and lead the development of engineering equipment lists and engineering studies and reportsWork with SmartPlant Foundation (client document system)Conduct internal and external tracking, management, and reporting of project performance and schedule progressLead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budgetImplement project controls and project management tools and methodologyPerform CPI/SPI calculations using earned value principlesMonitor and forecast budgets in accordance with a work breakdown structure (WBS) accounting systemOn an ongoing basis, develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including resource loading labor hours to schedule activitiesCommunicate variances against monthly work plan projections, monitor performances against the plan, and develop recovery plans when applicable Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

 

Essential skills and experience:

Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance checkConstruction Management, Engineering, or Business DegreeA minimum of 15 years of relevant work experienceMust understand estimating functions from the conceptual design phase through the construction phase of a projectExperience with engineering or construction oversightSkilled with Excel software and building moderately-complex spreadsheetsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, along with teamwork skillsFamiliarity with quality assurance programs (such as NQA-1)Related engineering work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performance

Valued but not required skills and experience:

Familiarity with Primavera P6

Salary Range

$148,000 - $176,000
