Performs a variety of cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures and special procedures or duties as assigned. May be assigned orientation and inservice education responsibilities. Minimum EducationAssociates degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Bachelor of Science RequiredGraduate of a Program in Discipline RequiredRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 daysLicenses:Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist by the National Board of Cardiovascular Technology; preferredAdvanced knowledge of neurology and cardiovascular physiology and other sciences related to neurological and cardiopulmonary diagnostics and be able to demonstrate these to others.Minimum Work ExperienceMinimum of two years experience as a cardiac ultrasound sonographer. Prior experience as a team leader or supervisor preferred. Possess an advanced knowledge of cardiac physiology and other sciences related to cardiac diagnostics and be able to demonstrate these to others. Demonstrated ability to use tact and judgment when dealing with physicians, nurses, other hospital employees, patients and patients’ families.
