Lead Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

Conceptualize, support, and drive the data architecture for multiple large-scale projects as well as recommend solutions to improve processes.  Integrate data from various sources and build robust, multi-functional data assets to support analytics. Responsible for data asset design, development, integration, and optimization.   Must love coding – prepare to spend more than 80% of the time on hands-on development with groundbreaking technologies.   Gatekeeper of end-to-end applications and frameworks ranging from system programming to micro-services to simple front-end applications  Build pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate easier development of data artifacts. Moreover, clean, unify and organize messy and complex data sets for easy access and analysis.  Collaborate with others to understand data needs, representing key data insights in a meaningful way.  Ability to own complete project or a subject area delivery while leading team members in a scrum setting.  Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.  Solve our most exciting data integration problems, applying optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, query techniques, sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources.  Be the point of reference for solving a challenging technical problem

Qualifications

At least 8 years of data/software engineering experience including data analysis, design and integration/ETL.  At least 5 years of software development experience in Scala or Java or Python.   Excellent SQL  Proven hands-on experience in an industrial setting with one or more of the following: data processing automation, data quality, data warehousing, data governance, business intelligence, data visualization, data privacy.  Proficient in design and implement reliable, scalable, and performant distributed systems and data pipelines.  Experiences building real-time/NRT workflows using Apache Kafka & Spark Structured Streaming. Solid foundation knowledge on Spark architecture and experience building ETL/ELT solutions in Spark.  Experience building data pipelines in Azure data factory/Synapse workspace.  Extensive knowledge of relational databases principles with proficiency in working with any one Database management system (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres etc.). Experience working with No-SQL databases like Cosmos SQL API, Mongo, Graph etc.   Experience with Databricks and with the Azure Cloud (particularly its Synapse, Data Factory, and DevOps) would be a plus.   Experience using DevOps tools for code versioning and automated code deployment.
