About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job Lead Data Engineer PetSmart LLC seeks a full-time Lead Data Engineer based in Phoenix, AZ. The primary duty of the Lead Data Engineer is to develop, create, and modify applications software that enables data and analytics use cases across the enterprise. This position is responsible for large-scale data engineering and business intelligence delivery. Specific duties include: 1) design, develop, and modify software applications with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and high reliability (DevOps model); 2) code, test, and document new or modified data systems to create robust and scalable applications for data analytics; 3) design enterprise-level big data platforms with 100+ concurrent users; 4) write concise code utilizing complex algorithms that can run at scale to build data-driven software features; 5) determine system performance standards, resolving issues pertaining to performance, scalability, capacity, and reliability; 6) develop models within distributed computing frameworks; 7) analysis of large data sets (10TB+); 8) analyze information to determine and recommend improvements to data processing and implemented machine learning frameworks; 9) develop new coding standards for big data engineers; 10) confer with Solutions Architects to design big data engineering solutions; 11) create new integration patterns for various applications; 12) create Proof of Concepts for new tools and technologies to be onboarded onto platform; 13) support product teams in a lead capacity; 14) design, build, and operate enterprise-grade data streaming use cases using Kafka, Spark Streaming, Storm, or Flink; and 15) use the following technologies and tools: Spark, Python, Scala, Hive, Pig, and MapReduce. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of related, progressive post-baccalaureate experience. Experience must include three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent, in all of the following: 1) Large-scale data engineering and business intelligence delivery. 2) Design of enterprise-level big data platforms with 100+ concurrent users. 3) Analysis of large data sets (10TB+). Must also have demonstrated experience with designing, building, and operating enterprise-grade data streaming use cases using Kafka, Spark Streaming, Storm, or Flink and using the following technologies and tools: Spark, Python, Scala, Hive, Pig, and MapReduce. All experience may have been gained concurrently. Experience must have been acquired after completion of the Bachelor’s Degree program. Apply online at https://careers.petsmart.com.
