ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:
We are looking for the first member to join our growing data team at Simply Eloped! This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a critical role in building and maintaining the data systems that support business decisions. You will be responsible for developing a scalable and reliable data pipeline and reporting system, working with business users to empower them to create reports independently using tools like Metabase. You’ll collaborate across teams to ensure we can effectively track performance and make data-driven decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Infrastructure Development
Design, build, and manage data pipelines for ingesting and processing data from multiple sources. Create and maintain scalable data infrastructure that is reliable and autonomous. Ensure the team can generate reports on their own without heavy reliance on the development team.ETL & Data Ingestion
Lead the design and implementation of ETL processes that ensure smooth data flows across the system. Build robust, high-quality, and scalable data pipelines to handle large volumes of data. Continuously improve data ingestion strategies, focusing on data quality and integrity.Data Modeling & Warehousing
Design data models using dimensional modeling, and ensure they meet business requirements. Optimize cost and performance of cloud data warehouses. Handle slow-changing dimensions and design incremental updates to improve efficiency.Collaboration & Support
Ensure data models and reports align with the company’s source of truth. Provide support to business teams, enabling them to access and analyze data independently. Work closely with cross-functional teams to create a self-service reporting system, including dashboards.Autonomy & Ownership
Own the end-to-end data pipeline development process and provide end-user support for data-related queries. Ensure data security and privacy are maintained throughout all systems and processes. Work autonomously and manage your tasks without relying on the development team.Main domains you'll work on:
Marketing Performance: Analyze and track performance data to support decision-making. Operations & Revenue: Build solutions to optimize business operations and revenue tracking.SUCCESSFUL LEAD DATA ENGINEER CANDIDATES HAVE:
4-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on building BI infrastructure. Experience with tools such as Metabase and working with self-service BI solutions. Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data ingestion, and dimensional modeling. A proactive attitude toward designing and building data systems independently. Familiarity with Snowflake as a Data Warehouse is a plus. Passion for data systems that empower business teams and enable self-service reporting. Passion for building scalable data infrastructure and delivering results. Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Commitment to ensuring data integrity and quality at every stage of the pipeline.IT'S A BONUS IF:
