Lead Database Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Database Engineer who creates and manages databases for the organization, including designing, building, installing, and maintaining databases to meet business needs.


In this role, you will:

Lead complex or critical database management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and business groups, including database architecture, design, integration and data modelingProvide the highest technical expertise for the planning, research, design implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databasesReview and analyze complex database technologies that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factorsDesign and certify next generation database technologiesAssist in database installations, including troubleshooting and problem resolutionRecommend improvements to web application processing issues and designConsult with multiple client groups to provide strategic solutions, influencing long range internal and enterprise level database architecture and management strategiesProvide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technologyCollaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals


Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education5+ years of database design and administration experience5+ years of MS SQL Server experience4+ years of PowerShell scripting experience4+ years of application development and implementation experience3+ years of experience designing and implementing process solutions for automation2+ years of working with any type of automation framework (System Center Orchestrator, Ansible, HP Operations Orchestrator / HP Server Automation, VMware, vRealize)

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracyExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsExperience using JIRA with Agile methodologies for tracking user stories or backlogsExperience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and KanbanExperience using Terraform or another infrastructure as code toolExperience with Public Cloud Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL DatabaseExperience using GitHub for version control and collaborationExperience using Python for automationExperience with web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and any JavaScript framework such as Vue or ReactKnowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, requirements gathering, and/or decision support toolsThe capability to write and interpret advanced SQL QueriesPassion for developing automated management of a large database environmentKnowledge and understanding of automation and engineering release developmentStrong understanding of data loading and data cleansing principlesExperience with WSDL, SOAP, API, RESTKnowledge and understanding of test-driven solutions development
