This is a full-time lead ultrasound tech position. You would join our highly trained and dedicated diagnostic medical sonographers. Each of them is board certified or board eligible as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Here at Sanford Women’s Ultrasound Diagnostic Center we have eight state-of-the-art ultrasound rooms for routine and advanced prenatal diagnostic and interventional procedures. Team lead will work closely with ultrasound manager and with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians and other support staff. We are proud to be accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

Summary

Assists the Manager in providing day-to-day operational support of the sonography services within the clinic. Provides guidance and work direction to ensure quality measures are followed internally and externally and daily responsibilities of staff sonographers are properly delegated. Provides leadership to ensure all staff perform their job duties by adhering to protocols and practices in order to have consistency and safety in the delivery of care to patients. Provides professional, technical, and clinical expertise to all staff.

Job Description

Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills. Initiates and coordinates quality assurance and ensures staff compliance with clinical and operational protocols, policies and procedures.

Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations. Monitors ultrasound equipment and communicates repairs when necessary. Performs direct patient care that ensures safe and compassionate care in an environment that is welcoming to patients and their families.

Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating clinics, referral, or commercial agencies. Monitors educational needs of staff and assists with ongoing education and development needs. Provides remote training and facilitate quality measures to partnering clinical sites. Provides assistance and input on budgetary issues that relate to sonography and departmental needs. Works in partnership with other healthcare professionals utilizing effective communication skills and a positive attitude, to facilitate optimum patient care.

Adhere to safety and infection control policies established by Sanford Health. Plays a major role with acquiring and maintaining of accreditation when assisting with the processes and requirements. Possesses the knowledge and ability to observe, evaluate, and participate in the educational processes of the sonography and radiologic technology students when appropriate. Precepts and orientates new employees. Supervises and train students and medical sonographers as needed. Assists with special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of three year equivalent work experience preferred.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the field of sonography is required. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) Board of Examiners is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required. For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required. This may include passenger on flights and occasional overnight stays at assigned sites. Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.
