As the Lead Director, Marketing Analytics & Business Insights, Eye Care, this individual will play an important role in managing a diverse set of on-market assets and upcoming product launches (pending deal close). The primary objectives of this position are to lead and develop the Marketing Insights and Analytics (MABI) function and team for the Eye Care Therapeutic Area, ensuring the successful execution of the strategic and tactical plans against key stakeholders, including patients & physicians, driven by strong and differentiating insights that are clearly communicated to, understood, and acted upon, by the appropriate marketing and cross-functional team(s).
This position supports a very diverse portfolio of assets, including: 6 on-market promoted products generating ~>$1Bn spanning OTC (over the counter), procedures and devices, and retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, and buy and bill products; Pipeline assets/new launches (pending deal close) will add significantly to total sales and complexity of offerings (i.e. gene therapy). The Lead Director ultimately influences business growth and decisions through fact-based analysis, customer insights and business knowledge. They will be an advisor to the SVP, President, Neuroscience and Eye Care, VP Eye Care, GM Glaucoma, GM Consumer Eye Care, GM PCS, GM Retina, associated Sales Directors (4), Director II Commercial Strategy and Operations, other members of the brand team, as well as members of the MABI Leadership Team and Extended cross functional teams.
Drive strategic plan development and tactical plan execution by ensuring that motivating insights are identified and executed by the Integrated Franchise teams.Leads and manages the development of a holistic point of view to address ad hoc cross-brand and cross-functional business questions requiring integration of input from marketing, sales, market access, analytics, and primary market research. Creates value by adding thought-leadership and driving the synthesis of findings into actionable insights, elevating beyond the “what” to the “why.”Provide the appropriate insights, analytics and launch readiness requirements for major launches in areas that are new to AbbVie. Collaborate with Global MABI to transition knowledge to the US business and identify opportunities for synergized learning plans.Lead the market research and analytics team in a manner that ensures the team advances the business, guiding the brand strategy and plan: with insights and leading analytic techniques and capabilities across consumer/patient, physician, brand, payor, and channel.Build, coach, and maintain a high-performing and diverse team of qualitative, analytical, quantitative, and business-minded individuals that collectively distill business insights & analytics from commercial data sources and primary market research.Coach and teach others on functional, technical, and marketing best practices, financial acumen and how to translate complicated information into compelling stories and learning.Lead the development of state-of-the-art models that meet key business criteria (e.g., cost, risk, business impact) and key technical criteria (e.g., reliability, validity, and predictability)Align data capabilities required for advanced analytics needs including the integration of patient and physician level data with existing Omnichannel data to measure short- and long-term impact of digital and CRM experiences (patient and physician).Identify and articulate fact-based spending and pricing principles through detailed analysis of marketplace and consumer dynamics.Inform the brand planning process based on a deep understanding of marketplace performance, competition, all stages of the patient journey, as well as stakeholder influences throughout the journey. Clarify moments of meaning and highlight opportunities to enhance the patient's experience. Develop plans to prioritize and address insight gaps.Understands and can coach team members around market research design and implications for the therapeutic area and identify sound approaches to research and analysis based on the hypotheses and situational constraints.Actively involved with franchise financial planning process:Pressure test and provide input to forecast assumptions based on knowledge of market, competitive dynamics, and upcoming events.Responsible for input into financial planning process, both short term and long-range plans.Guide franchise investment decisions from marketing mix/business optimization and other analysis.Interprets research findings and synthesizes them into actionable business insights.Collaborate and influence integrated brand team members through all facets of the business process and communicating /influencing/presenting to senior management.Strong understanding of the broad healthcare environment and specific therapeutic areas to identify and proactively address opportunities and threats.Significantly increase the productivity of Abbvie and TA&O partner resources through effective use of external suppliers and contractors aligned with key Abbvie efficiency objectives.Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Advanced Degree Preferred (Business, Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology or Engineering) with emphasis in marketing/sales/quantitative/qualitative analysis.
Background:
Requires 15+ years of experience in insights (qualitative and quantitative methods) and analytics (analysis of sales and marketing information) and the use of this information in the development of business plans and strategies. With a master’s degree, 12+ years of similar experience is required.Requires 5+ year of pharmaceutical experience, either on the manufacturer or agency side.Requires 5+ years managing teams.Strong influence and leadership skills and a proven ability to work closely and effectively with all corporate functions and senior management.Intimate knowledge of the marketing, sales and financial planning processes, and the ability to develop and use specialized market research and analytic techniques within a business setting.Strong visualization and storytelling skills.Demonstrated project management skills are also required.Accountability / Scope:
