II. Major Responsibilities:
1. Under the direction of the Cardiology service line manager, ensures operational excellence within the department to provide support to others and quality service in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards. a. Oversees daily departmental operations to ensure that quality services are provided in an efficient and effective manner, meeting or exceeding all applicable regulatory licensure and accrediting regulations. b. Develops, maintains and consistently analyzes performance improvement outcomes to improve departmental services consistent with Hospital and regulatory requirements. c. Develops and maintains departmental productivity measurements and adjusts resources to meet Hospital, departmental standards and budget obligations. 2. Seeking appropriate counsel from Human Resources and/or Manager, responsible for effective human resource management to achieve consistent and fair treatment of all staff, high productivity and positive employee relations a. Develops and supports staff to encourage high employee morale and to minimize negative turnover, overtime and absenteeism. b. Utilizes participative management practices in creative problem-solving. c. Offers creative solutions or alternatives to departmental staffing and/or individual employee discipline concerns. e. Consistently, and in a timely way, reviews performance of staff consistent with the Hospital’s performance evaluation program. 3. Assists in achieving effective fiscal management of the assigned departments’ operations to ensure proper utilization of financial and other resources. a. Consistently maintains high quality and timely department services while meeting or
exceeding all budgetary goals and objectives. b. Investigates and suggests creative alternatives to the established budgets to respond to shifting demands or resources. c. Contributes to preparation of budgets that are complete, accurate and developed allowing ample opportunity to review, comment and adjust in a timely manner. d. Consistently recommends cost savings and revenue generation through innovative methods. e. Works with Manager to ensure accurate and timely charge capture. 4. Demonstrates professional leadership and involvement within the Hospital, the System and in the community served to promote support of the Hospital. a. As appropriate, actively participates in a variety of Hospital committees and task forces and any appropriate community activities. b. Participates in education programs to remain knowledgeable of current trends and standards. c. Participates in and provides support and consultation for the planning and implementation of Hospital or System programs and projects. Works proactively and effectively to ensure interdepartmental success at resolving process issues. d. Responsible for the effective and timely completion of special projects as assigned. 5. Under the general direction of the Manager oversees the daily functioning of and supervises the staff, consistent with Hospital expectations and departmental policies and procedures. a. Assesses and delegates caseload to ensure proper coverage and appropriate patient care. b. Provides on-going training and education in clinical skills to staff members in conjunction with the Director. c. Will ensure that that all quality control and quality assurance measures within the lab are met. 6. Properly performs all examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols. a. Gather pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records. b. Accurately completes all records, paper work, required documentation and exams. Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists cardiologists with exams. d. Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies. e. Assists with other job-related duties as requested.
III. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School Diploma
2. EKG Certification or equivalent
3. BLS (Basic Life Support Training- American Heart Association)

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Minimum 1 year of experience working in a cardiovascular lab or equivalent.
2. Experience with EKGs, cardiac monitoring devices, TEE’s, stress echos.
3. Participates in obtaining new talent through recruitment and interviews

Performs echocardiograms on both inpatient and outpatient plus assists the Cardiologist with TEE's. In the near future, perform stress echoes on inpatient and outpatients as needed.
