The Echocardiographer Lead must be Registered as a Cardiac Sonographer by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or The Cardiovascular Credentialing International. The Echocardiographer Lead oversees and coordinates the performance of all Cardiology and Electroencephalographic procedures.  The Echocardiographer shall work cooperatively with Physicians, Nursing Staff, Ancillary Staff, and other members of the patient care team to maintain established departmental and hospital standards of care.  The Echocardiographer Lead is also responsible for assisting the Cardiopulmonary Assistant Manager / Manger in planning, organizing, troubleshooting, scheduling, educating, assessing competence, and supervising the other Cardiology Staff. All services shall be carried out according to established departmental and hospital policies, the hospital’s mission statement, and the philosophy of the department’s code of ethics.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

 

High school diploma or GED and formal training in Echocardiography; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.

 

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

One year ultrasound experience in performing echocardiograms.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Registered as a Cardiac Sonographer by The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or The Cardiovascular Credentialing International. BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Course Certification through the American Heart Association.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 

The Echocardiographer Lead, working in a staff position, shall follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Cardiopulmonary Department and OakBend Medical Center in providing Cardiology Services to all patients and accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the health care team. The Echocardiographer Lead must remain an active part of the on call team rotation for all procedures performed. Completion of other hospital or department specific training courses may be required.
