The Electrical Engineering Supervisor is a hands-on, full-time position responsible for managing a team of five (5) to ten (10) Electrical Engineers involved in the design of new and existing upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities, power plants, and other industrial facilities.
You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.They will be responsible for their direct reports in all aspects, including hiring, training, mentoring, deliverable quality assurance (QA)/ quality control (QC), performance reviews, performance improvements and terminations.They will be responsible for coordinating with other supervisors and directors to resource projects, contributing to business development and proposals, assist with recruiting and interviewing, and creating/revising/improving department standardsSupport the project management in coordinating systems design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.Effectively analyzes resource needs, organizes, and allocates resources. Understands resourcing and department budgeting tools and leverages them for manpower planning. Periodically review project budgets and schedules. Track and approve PTO.Facilitate weekly team meetings and participate in a department meetings.Prepare and review detailed calculations, including three phase power transient studies, voltage drop, and protective relay settings.Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production.Interface with vendors to prepare materials and equipment purchase specifications for client recommendations.Performs timely employee reviews and development plans for employees. Coaches and trains employees and delegates responsibility to develop staff. Conduct individual 1:1 with direct reports.Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.Participate in proposal efforts by developing budgets, identifying scope and resources, review schedules, provide feedback on proposal documents. Facilitate handoff to assigned resources at project kickoff as needed.Leverage department utilization forecast to identify staffing needs. Participate in the interview process. Initiate new hire process and conduct onboarding with new hires.Lead and manage Electrical only projects as applicable. Essential skills and experience:
A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required; MSEE preferred.PE license required10+ years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilities specific for Oil and Gas.Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design.Proficiency with MS Office applications, with emphasis on MS Excel.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.Experience in reviewing other engineers design calculations and drawings.This position is based in Englewood, CO and may require occasional travel.
