WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Lead Electrical Engineer** for our **Austin, TX** office. This role will actively participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work such as healthcare, industrial/pharmaceutical, laboratories, institutional/higher education, and commercial projects from the design phase through the final construction close-out.

**Your Impact**
+ Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners
+ Project management of cross-functional teams of engineers including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, permit applications, construction documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
+ Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members
+ Design of primary electrical power and emergency power systems
+ Design of fire alarm and life safety systems
+ Design of lighting and lighting control systems
+ Scheduling and selection of electrical components and equipment
+ Perform electrical load, short circuit and voltage drop calculations
+ Construction administration phase services
+ Attend client and other stakeholder meetings
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner
+ Collaborate with owners, design professionals, and other stakeholders on business development opportunities.
+ Supervise and mentor our younger engineers
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering.
+ 7 plus years of relevant post education experience as an engineer active in the design of electrical systems in industrial/pharmaceutical, laboratories, commercial, institutional/higher education, healthcare, or similar facilities.
+ A professional engineering license is required.
+ Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
+ Extensive knowledge of electrical building design.
+ Experience with electrical planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation, renovation, new design, and construction projects.
+ Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Well-developed ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of electrical engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
+ Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ LEED AP Certification
+ Previous Healthcare, Industrial/Pharmaceutical, Commercial or Laboratory design experience
+ At least 5+ years minimum Project Management experience
