This is a hybrid position. The first three months are full-time in office.
This position will support the Energy Management System (EMS) and PI systems for Eversource in CT & Western MA. This includes managing the real-time applications (DSCADA/EMS) such as software and communication subsystems (Front-end processors, ICCP) and associated interface equipment used to control and monitor the distribution systems. This position may require 24x7 on-call duty to maintain a reliable EMS system. Eversource uses GE as their main vendor for EMS, DMS and Power System Applications.
Essential Functions:
Leads a team of mostly Engineers working on DSCADA support.Creates and maintains the Electric System models used by EMS and DTS application software.Develops, validates, and maintains DSCADA one-lines and database.Develops and produces reports documenting EMS software performance.Coordinates EMS updates and improvements with EMS support and vendor staff to ensure the functionality and the availability of the EMS is maintained.Supports the creation and operation of Dispatcher training scenarios used on the DTS.Provides technical expertise and guidance on the EMS Advanced Applications to new Control Center operations personnel and trainers.Develops methods using EMS applications to monitor and report discrepancies between system telemetry and EMS solutions to improve the accuracy of system telemetry.Supports Dispatcher’s use of EMS applications to evaluate and schedule electric system equipment outages.Works with Engineers and operating personnel elsewhere in the Company in performing analyses and providing technical support for operating issues.Develops operational and emergency action plans for electric transmission system and bulk supply substations which support the distribution system.Participates in on-call rotation as required to support operations department and maintain high EMS availability.Assumes the role of the Manager as required.Expected to assist with storm duty and any other major events.Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.Familiarity with power related software is preferred.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry. Supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts and companies within and outside the state.Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.Compensation and Benefits:
Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The salary range for this position is $137,000.00 to $153,000.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
