This is a hybrid role with the first three months in the office.

Eversource is looking for a Lead Engineer, Transmission located in Hartford, CT, Westwood, MA or Manchester, NH. This position has shared responsibility for transmission engineering and economic analyses of the clean energy transition in New England.  This position is responsible for modeling the electricity sector and use of the transmission grid to meet the mission and objectives of the organization.  In addition, this position coordinates preparation and development of data, reports, presentations, and compliance filings regarding Eversource transmission projects to ISO New England and serves as a transmission engineering subject matter expert in state, regional, and federal forums. This position shares accountability with peers in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic initiatives and economic analyses. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing and directing the work performed by other Engineers.

Essential Functions: 

Manages, coaches, develops and reviews performance of engineers and other staff. 

Responsible for engineering power flow, economic capacity expansion, production cost, and probabilistic modeling analyses of the New England system. Oversees engineers and consultants who may be retained to perform technical analysis.

Leads a team responsible for engineering studies and analysis of existing projects and project proposals. Oversee interpretation of the results of such studies and analyses for strategic insights and guidance.

Responsible for subject matter expertise to state procurement evaluation team on transmission network and interconnection-related issues. 

Leads a team responsible for analyzing federal (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), regional (ISO New England), and state policy proposals for their impact on Eversource and our customers.

Leads development of recommended policy positions, oversees work with internal stakeholders to reach consensus on strategy.

Responsible for development of analytical products, visualizations, research, and other advocacy materials to support policy recommendations and outreach.

Responsible for scrutiny of technical reports related to the operational and economic impact of clean energy resources on the electric transmission and distribution systems in New England.

Leads a team representing Eversource on regional and national advisory committees (NEPOOL committees, trade associations, etc.).

May serve as an expert witness in state regulatory proceedings.

Coordinates outreach and advocacy to external stakeholders.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Must supervise at least Engineers or 1 Engineer and 1 Designer.

Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.

Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.

Familiarity with power related software is preferred.

Education:

Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline

Experiences:

Minimum of ten (10) years in transmission engineering

Supervisory experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The salary range for this position starts at $137,310 to $152,570 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for a fill list of benefits.

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
