We have an excellent opportunity for Software Engineer to join our Property and Casualty (P&C) IT team.
Team Purpose
The team’s key initiatives are focused on the delivery of integrated platforms across submission, rating, underwriting, policy admin and claims as well as providing enhanced data analytics and business intelligence. To support this transformation, the P&C IT team is growing to ensure and support the delivery of our systems to a high-quality standard and to enhance the engagement with the business.
Role Purpose
We are currently seeking a skilled Lead Engineer to join our team and lead a team of Software engineers, you will focus on the delivery of client engagements, ensuring the successful execution of projects and driving technical excellence. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate and mentor a team of engineers.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure project success and professional growth.Oversee the entire engineering process from concept development to product realization, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.Serve as a technical specialist for a portfolio of applications in the delivery of advanced concepts, principles, and methods.Drive technical excellence by providing innovative solutions, implementing best practices, and promoting continuous improvement within the engineering team.Address client business challenges in the intersection of process and technology.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to define project requirements, scope, and objectives.Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and open communication.Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project schedules to ensure efficient execution and cost control.Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in engineering methodology, incorporating these into the team’s practices.Uphold and enforce compliance with regulatory standards, engineering codes, and safety guidelines.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members, aligning their goals with business objectives.Requirements:
A Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, engineering or another related field.8+ years of proven experience as a Lead Engineer or similar technical leadership role on digital applications, B2B, B2C and Web applications.Previous development experience of Mendix, C# and/or Java, web services, web service APIs, as well as implementing code to consume existing APIs would be beneficial.In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and software tools relevant to the organization's industry.Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively delegate tasks and manage multiple priorities.Proactive attitude and willingness to make any extra effort required to ensure that the company delivers and maintains its enviable reputation.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.Fluent in English.Experience with tracking tools like Jira.
The following will be considered a plus:
Experience in the Insurance or Banking Sectors. Experience with source version control, preferably Github.Experience in relational data base designs and database development such as creating tables, stored procedures, running query profiles.
