General Summary
The Lead Engineer assists the Shift Supervisor and/or Director as requested by them. This position performs all types of troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment, environmental spaces and grounds as assigned and is required to follow all operating procedures, safety regulations and department policies and procedures. Works independently in majority of tasks, requires little or no supervision. The Lead Engineer requires a high level of responsibility when dealing directly with guests and is the point of contact for the department when the Shift Supervisor and Director are off duty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All engineers can and will be called upon to do any task assigned to them in Facilities. Provides “Greater Guest Service” skills to guests and fellow team members in a professional manner at all times. Maintains guest rooms, public spaces and back of the house areas by performing tasks related to various trades including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Has become an expert in a particular field. Is in charge of operating boilers, chillers, air compressors and related mechanical equipment with little or no supervision. As assigned by the Supervisor, a Lead Engineer does routine inspections of key areas and records equipment Status Indicators. Reports any irregularities to Supervisor and is capable of making the necessary repairs. (Key areas include Central Plant, Refrigeration Equipment, Elevators and Escalators, Lighting, Restrooms, Exhaust Fans, Mechanical and Electrical Rooms.) Has one or several areas of expertise. Provides coaching and advises other engineers on solving problems. Becomes the point of contact for the Facilities Department when the Shift Supervisor and Director are off. Perform any other duties as assigned by management. Provide outstanding guest service to all internal and external guests
