Our Core Values (https://mgeunderground.com/about/) Safety | Continuous Development | Respect | Integrity | Performance | Trust | Fun How You Can Make an Impact The Lead Estimator will establish standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating and will oversee analysis of past performance on projects and establish estimating standards for all future estimates, as well as assist in oversight of the historical cost database and bid management and estimating software. How You Will Contribute + Ensure all work is executed with MGE’s strategic vision and core values. + Collect and analyze data that impacts cost of labor, materials/supplies, equipment in order to maximize quality and accuracy of the bid in a timely manner. + Participate in estimate and bid reviews with Estimating Team and Management. Analyze competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness. + Review general conditions, schedules, scope of work, site conditions and all other exhibits from customer. + Attend job walks as necessary. + Review post job cost analysis with the Estimating Team. + Review, analyze and record historical production rates. + Maintain a healthy working relationship with subcontractors and vendors. + Ensure final deliverable meets the quality and expectations of the customer. + Oversee analysis of past performance on projects in order to establish estimating standards. + Analyze means and methods and/or implement alternate means and methods. + Respond to inquiries from clients and ensure a timely response. + Serve as the primary contact for the Director of estimating for all topics relating to estimating resources. + Engage and deal with all client negotiations relating to estimating. + Understand customer requirements and needs. + Proactively partner, build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors. + Maintain the highest level of customer service. + Ensure final deliverables meet the quality and expectations of the customer + Conduct check-in and evaluation meetings with each direct report to provide performance evaluation, career goal alignment, and ensure retention. + Recruit, interview and assist with new hire orientations for Estimating team members. + Evaluate and improve systems and processes to effectively meet project requirements and profitability goals. + Stay current with the latest developments in estimating by identifying new tools, software and resources applicable to the team. + Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisor. What You Bring to the Table + V alid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record. + Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid/Heavy Job software. + Extensive knowledge of utility construction methods and procedures. + Broad knowledge with CPM scheduling via MS Project, Suretrak, P6. + Extensive knowledge in City, County, municipality requirements (i.e. standard plans and specifications). + Strong computer aptitude – must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong core leadership skills and willing to manage with a hands-on approach. + Excellent communication, presentation, analytical and strategic skills. Must be able to easily communicate with all levels of the company as well as external relationships. + Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency + Ability to agree on completion dates and times for delegated work. + Ability to travel to jobsites as required + Required: High School Diploma or GED + Desired: B.S. in Engineering Field, Construction Management or related field. + Required: 10 years of construction experience in estimating, project management and/or field management with supervisory experience. + Desired: 5 years in Leadership Our Competitive Package Pay: $150,000 - $188,000 annually This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
