Trane in Chesapeake, VA is hiring a Lead Field Install Technician to join the team.
In this role, you will be responsible for project oversight of HVAC Field Install Technicians and Subcontractors who repair/ install/ retrofit/ replace environment comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of HVAC theory, pipe fitting and mechanical layouts.
Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for training and developing HVAC field install technicians, providing technical advice, offering guidance and assistance.
+ Manage and assist with service projects for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
+ Evaluate job site safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service and install technicians and Subcontractors to assist in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
+ Assist coordination with team to stay on top of contractual obligations including budget and schedule.
+ Work closely with Project Developer/ Project Manager to assist in opportunity development, quotes and to secure projects.
+ Keep team up to date with all safety and administrative compliances relative to site requirements for assigned project.
+ Able to provide technical and administrative support.
+ Attending, internal and external meetings as necessary.

What you will bring:
+ Three - five (3-5) years of supervisory experience
+ Licensed Refrigeration Technician with G1 certificate.
+ Technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
+ Possess good verbal and writing communication skills.
+ Working knowledge of HVAC products, systems, electronics and pneumatic controls.
+ Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
+ Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. smartphone, iPad)
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including but not limited to:
+ DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
+ Ability to prove U.S. Employment eligibility without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:
Must be able to:
+ Safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
+ Wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness, safety boots and other PPE as the job mandates to safely perform job duties
+ Twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
+ Squat and touch the floor with both hands
+ Reach your hands over your head
+ Stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
+ Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less.
+ Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal.
+ Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’ and occasionally, 50’ +.
This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location.
