The Role
As a Lead Finance Business Partner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role supports the customers mission which fully supports Babcock’s mission to create a safer world together. Partnering with the Portfolio Lead and reporting to the Finance Director, you will head up a team and take responsibility for all aspects of the contract accounting.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have a mixture of “hands on” work whilst also delegating to your team of 3; within the bounds of governance controls, delegated authorities and oversight that form company policy across contracts, you will be given autonomy to lead the area in the way you see fit.

 

Providing financial information for forecasting, budget and contract performance including ‘estimate at completion’. Line management responsibilities of team members, including overseeing their continued development and growth. Providing business stakeholders with meaningful and accurate information, that empowers them to drive financial performance of the area. Collaborating with project managers, assisting them with their understanding of financial issues so they are equipped to foresee financial risks before they arise and take pre-emptive mitigating action.


This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 1 day in the onsite and 4 days working from home. However, you may be required for more days if the project demands.

 

Essential Experience of the Lead Finance Business Partner

Ability to understand requirements and tasking as well as influence others around them. Be able to articulate and present financial issues to both finance and non-finance audiences in a clear concise way. Experience in understanding complex issues (balancing the detail and the big picture), using insight/data (evidence) and their judgement to make good decisions and have a positive impact. Excellent excel skills.

 

Qualifications for the Lead Finance Business Partner

Ideally would hold a recognised accounting qualification (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Associate Chartered Accountant, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Associate Chartered Management Accountant, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) or equivalent / similar. (However, we would consider people with significant experience.)
 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
