Operates specialized firefighting vehicles (hazardous materials trucks) and associated equipment. Assures crew members keep equipment and apparatus in good working order. Directs rescue of personnel that involves the proper procedures for detection, medical triage, and treatment and decontamination. Performs functions required to execute difficult and hazardous firefighting and rescue operations. Providing emergency medical response to illness or injury; and 4. Responding to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
