Lead Front End Engineer- AI Platform

What you'll do We’re looking for passionate and talented engineers to build out the machine learning platform and infrastructure that will power Docusign’s Agreement Cloud. You will help support all aspects of the machine learning lifecycle, including the research platform, training and deployment systems, and scalable serving infrastructure. Our team is responsible for building a platform that supports an international team of machine learning engineers and data scientists and can serve AI solutions to Docusign at scale. This role will be a part of the Foundations Machine Learning team at Docusign, which builds analytics products that utilize AI, machine learning, and cutting-edge CV/NLP deep learning based models to provide insights for the Docusign Agreement Cloud. Our team is distributed across the Bay Area, Seattle, and Europe and you will be working collaboratively across these teams. As a Lead Front End Software Engineer for the Docusign AI team, you are responsible for architecting and building foundational platforms of our next gen agreement analytics products and services that enable analytics & decision making throughout the entire Docusign business. You will lead our efforts with a particular focus on the related back-end development while still taking on front-end tasks. You will have proven technical ability and influence across multiple product areas as you work at the most senior levels of Docusign and regularly participate in various design and engineering reviews, demonstrating your domain area expertise. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering. Responsibility Lead and oversee development of multiple minor to major technologies and associated project teams Ensure timely and high quality deliverables across multiple engineering projects and teams Lead architectural designs, discussions and decisions Identify complex algorithms and risks, helping drive the design of the implementation to resolve the issues across multiple features Influence the direction and work of a significant portion of software engineering Create high quality, user focused experiences with React or Node Help build and design the new Micro Frontend (MFE) infrastructure Coach and mentor engineers Develop and maintain automated tests for your code Participate in an Agile environment using Scrum software development practices, automated unit testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and version control systems (GIT) Raise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitments Be available to diagnose and resolve production-impacting issues and maintain the code as needed Focus on writing high quality code that is easy to maintain and read by others Job Designation Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation) Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. What you bring Basic 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years related experience with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 6+ years experience; or equivalent experience Experience building SPA and monorepo or micro frontends architecture Experience with React, Emotion, TypeScript, Webpack, Jest, Playwright Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript and can debug memory and performance issues Experience with creating accessible web apps Experience coding and design in Javascript, React, Typescript, CSS, ServiceWorkers, Lighthouse Experience in agile methodologies Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies Preferred Working knowledge of user authentication and authorization Proficiency in building REST, GRPC, GraphQL APIs Experience leading distributed teams including offshore Product development experience building large scale web applications Experience designing and developing highly scalable consumer facing web applications Passionate about creating an inclusive and accessible user experience Experience with internationalization and localization Knowledge of micro service architectures Experience iwth JVM Based Languages (Java, Kotlin) or other modern programming languages Experience with Jenkins / Azure DevOps Practical experience with any Cloud technologies: Kubernetes, AWS, Azure etc. Wage Transparency Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations: California: $195,500.00 - $315,775.00 base salary Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salary This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
