Senior Platform Engineer

About the Role:
Our Platform Services Engineering team is responsible for delivering reliable cloud and data platforms. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of Java experience to help us continuously enhance how we build, secure, and scale our rapidly growing cloud platform. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in coding, system design, and analytical skills to provide shared services, tools, and infrastructure for the product development teams while abstracting the underlying complexities of the cloud stack.

Responsibilities:

Build platform tools and services to support product engineering teams in deploying and running applications (data pipelines, analytical apps, microservices, etc.) on the cloud. Collaborate with other teams to assist with platform APIs and infrastructure-related service requests. Develop solutions that focus on eliminating repetitive tasks through automation. Work on platform infrastructure and contribute to system design, architecture, and coding best practices. Ensure the smooth deployment of product engineering services while maintaining scalability and security.

Requirements:

Must Have Skills:

Solid experience with Java / J2EE technologies and object-oriented design principles. Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, Spring framework, NoSQL databases, and message queues (MQ) or Kafka. Proven experience with automation testing (unit and integration testing). Familiarity with front-end JavaScript apps and frameworks. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS, Azure, GCP). Proficiency with continuous integration/delivery/deployment (CI/CD) practices and frameworks. Expertise in end-to-end application architecture and system design. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Good understanding of observability tools (Prometheus, InfluxDB, Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk). Experience with containerization (Docker, LXC) and container orchestration services (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, AWS ECS, AWS EKS).

Nice to Have Skills:

Knowledge of Linux, networking, cloud design patterns, APIs, and security. Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins). Exposure to open-source technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Spark, Airflow.
