Lead in Drinking Water Project Technical Leader
**40117BR** **Requisition ID:** 40117BR **Business Unit:** TSU **Job Description:** CDM Smith has led the industry in assisting communities with meeting Lead and Copper Rule regulatory compliance and setting up and implementing lead service line replacement programs. We have a team of professionals who meet regularly to strategize and develop marketing campaigns to continue to grow our market share and influence in this area. We are looking for professionals who can strategize long term, assist with business development, be technical experts guiding projects and the industry, and mentor staff new to this work. This position is for a Strategy and Program Technical Leader to focus both on long-term market and sales planning and directing the technical management and delivery of Lead and Copper Rule programs and lead service line replacement programs throughout the country. In this role you will have the following responsibilities: ▬ Lead teams to develop lead service line inventories, performs design tasks, assists clients with planning for and managing lead service line replacement programs, corrosion control projects, lead and develop community outreach programs and assist clients with communicating with regulatory agencies. ▬ Develop technical approaches, review draft design deliverables and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure that firm’s policies and practices are followed on all work. Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifics. Update design requirements as necessary based on lessons learned and new information. Coordinate with teams nationally to ensure a consistent approach across the firm. ▬ Contribute to firm's technical library by developing white papers, templates, go-bys and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. ▬ Submit technical papers for publishing to technical journals and presenting at conferences and webinars. Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. ▬ Develop ideas for R&D projects related to lead or distribution water quality and assist with their implementation. Present results at conferences or submit a journal article. ▬ Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations, and best practices. Proactively meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future needs. ▬ Act as a point of contact for external client and related industry contacts. Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary. ▬ Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and the firm. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
