This role serves as a vital resource for team members, with primary responsibilities including ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Key duties involve problem-solving, teaching, and training in venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks, the use of butterfly needles, point-of-care glucose testing, EKG equipment, and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures. Specifically, this position is accountable for the accurate and timely collection, labeling, processing, and delivery of patient specimens to the laboratory, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Plan and organize workflow to maximize productivity while ensuring quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Assist in developing PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) systems to implement and monitor process improvements, taking appropriate actions as needed. Ensure team members adhere to departmental policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with all quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Support the department by monitoring regulatory and accreditation compliance and addressing any deficiencies promptly. Train new and existing team members, including students, ensuring completion of orientation and training checklists. Oversee the completion of annual mandatory education and assess competencies, ensuring proper documentation. Provide constructive feedback to leadership regarding team members' performance, including recommendations for coaching, counseling, or disciplinary actions. Assist leadership in completing initial and annual performance appraisals for team members. Contribute to the preparation of departmental training, education, quality, and safety programs, as well as performance improvement projects. Serve as a resource for daily operations within the department, sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues. Participate in the interview process and provide feedback on candidates. Qualifications Minimum of two years of experience in a related field. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively, pleasantly, and discreetly with patients, physicians, team members, and the general public. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, training, and experience. Demonstrated creativity, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
