What you'll do:

As a Lead IT Application Specialist your key area of responsibility will be drive technical projects, act as an escalation point for complex application issues, and mentor other IT Applications Specialists. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs, while continuously researching and implementing best practices to ensure Geotab's IT application landscape remains cutting-edge and robust. 

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.

How you'll make an impact Contribute to defining strategic direction, planning the roadmap, and synthesizing feedback to ensure team success Lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of enterprise IT applications, including design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support Take ownership and act as a technical lead on complex/long-term IT Application Support related projects and contribute to their implementation, including defining scope, requirements, communicating project progress, challenges and solutions, while ensuring timely delivery Lead the integration of new applications with existing systems, ensuring seamless functionality and data flow Ensure applications are optimized for performance, security, scalability, and user experience Build relationships and act as an SME/technical escalation point to other IT Applications Specialists and other business units for application-related matters Work closely with business owners in order to understand business needs and manage expectations of users being supported Design, configure, implement and maintain applications and service requirements while researching and establishing best practices continuously pushing the technology envelop at Geotab Oversee and resolve complex IT Application issues Provide technical support for Application Support escalations Create and maintain documentation for configuration, processes and procedures Mentor other IT Applications Specialists and work with manager to set the direction of the team and guide key stakeholders on execution choices and trade-offs, and advise the manager with insights and recommendations to improve the team Present and lead technical discussions and training at the department wide level Collaborate with the Security team to address vulnerabilities and ensure applications are secure Support Geotab’s global strategic initiatives Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule What you'll bring to the role 8 - 10+ years of experience in technical, functional & system support of IT applications 7+  years of experience with Cloud Platforms (platform components, assembling applications, and system architecture), container runtimes, preferably Docker and container orchestration tools, preferably Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) or other K8s platform 5+ years experience with GitOps using platforms like Flux, ArgoCD, Atlantis, Helm Advanced knowledge of CI/CD design and infrastructure, on GitLab Advanced administrative knowledge of GitLab in a self-hosted distributed environment Advanced knowledge of GitOps tooling, preferably ArgoCD Advanced knowledge of SSO methodologies (SAML, OIDC, LDAPS etc.) and Centralized Identity and Management (CIAM) systems like Keycloak Expert in managing and supporting Linux-based environments Strong programming/scripting knowledge - Powershell,  Python, Bash, etc. and an automation first mentality Advanced knowledge of ChromeOS, Windows and Linux OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance Excellent (internal) client facing skills and communication Experience with cloud computing platforms including Google Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure Experience with Zero Trust Architecture Able to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously Excellent verbal and written communication skills A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization Strong technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides) Responsible for the contribution and maintenance of the departmental WIKI Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization This position has no managerial responsibilities and no direct reports If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role!
