We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Disney Cruise Line organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Product Management and Disney Cruise Line business partners from across the company.
**About The Role & Team:**
As a Lead Software Engineer for Disney Cruise Line, you will be part of a team that builds and maintain complex systems for various onboard guest fulfillment systems. You will lead and assist in the design, development, testing and deployment of high-quality software solutions.
You will apply excellent communication skills while interfacing with both technical and product teams to capture new system requirements and then apply your expertise in software development in the delivery of innovative solutions for those requirements.
**What You’ll Do:**
+ Own the analysis, design, program, debugging, and modifications of software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs
+ Lead projects that may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms
+ Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems
+ Possess an in-depth knowledge of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks
+ May perform or lead testing and debugging of applications, identifying innovative solutions
+ Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications
+ Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
+ Help engage around the estimation and planning of highly sophisticated scalable projects and their budget allocations
+ You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies so you can make informed recommendations
**Required Qualifications:**
+ **Minimum 7 years of related work experience**
+ Comfortable working in an agile environment

+ Familiar with full stack technologies, with a desire to further develop technical expertise in data engineering tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies
+ Provide technical guidance and evangelize best practices.
+ Maintain a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies.
+ Contribute and review code, set standards, and work with engineers to ensure product and design specifications are met.
+ Responsible for fundamental platform performance, scalability, and resiliency
+ Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements and propose solutions to problems that span multiple teams.
+ Influence and contribute to department technical strategy and planning.
+ Provide mentoring to engineers on advanced technical issues.
+ Research, learn, and evangelize widespread adoption of new technologies and architecture patterns.
+ Lead cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed.
+ Strategic planning and vision focused on experimenting with and deploying new technologies.
+ Available for rotating on-call schedule
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Proven expertise with architecture and delivery of high volume, cached, fault tolerant, multi-threaded scalable systems.
+ **Expertise designing APIs and building RESTful services.**
+ **Mastery in Java and/or Node.js and experience with multiple opensource technologies like; Spring, Tomcat, Nginx, Elastic Search, etc**
+ Familiar with Flutter or willingness to quickly learn
+ Software architect with experience working on mid to large size modular software projects.
+ Expertise with full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc.
+ Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins/Gitlab CICD and Docker
+ Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. Can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations
+ Experience with Agile Delivery (Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, etc)
+ Enjoy working in a team setting with engineers of varying experience.
+ Be able to work well with external partners and contractors.
**Knowledge Of**
• Kubernetes, Rancher
• Couchbase, Postgres, SQL, Oracle
• Cloud-hosted services like AWS, Azure
• CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins
• Monitoring and logging tools Grafana, App Dynamics, Loginsight, Splunk • Git and version control
• Agile software development methodologies
• Performance tuning
**Required Education:**
+ Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
