Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Eaton’s AER HQ Headquarters division is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

Additive manufacturing (AM) is an exciting new technology that offers substantial benefits to the Aerospace industry.  Eaton Aerospace has leveraged the technology to create superior products and capture profitable growth for the businesses. This has resulted in significant program growth since the inception of additive mfg. in the Eaton Aerospace business.  The number of awarded flight hardware metal component is driving the need for more expert roles in the areas of manufacturing, process engineering and new product implementation in production.  This new position will act as the manufacturing Engineering expert for the Digital Design and Additive manufacturing center in Charleston, S.C. responsible for defining best manufacturing, processing and inspection techniques for Additively manufactured products working with internal customers, engineers and AM process specialist. Candidate will collaborate with design, additive engineers, and technicians to develop and optimize additive manufacturing designs, write procedures & work instructions, implement continuous improvements projects to optimize the process for cost and quality. The role will support production manufacturing working on improving scrap, yield, quality, MRB and other areas. Candidate will oversee some of the day to day operation, support maintaining a quality system in the AM center and ensure safe work practices are maintained in their area of responsibility  

 
•    Introduce new Additive products in production utilizing the New Product Introduction process in accordance with established standards and best practices driving a right the first-time philosophy.
•    Researches, justifies, and implements new manufacturing processes 
•    Supports development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the AM Team business strategy to meet cost, quality and delivery.
•    Support and Own Government funded projects with Collaboration with ERL 
•    Develops and implements effective mistake proofing as part of continuous improvement and root cause/corrective action.
•    Delivers process improvement cost out initiatives:
                     o    Cycle Time Reduction
                     o    Tooling Cost Out
                     o    Set-up Reduction
•    Collaborate with design, other additive engineers, and technicians to develop and optimize additive manufacturing designs and processes
                     o    Process Capability/First Pass Yield
•    Participates as an active member in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) to eliminate waste and drive standardization.
•    Participates as an active team member to address safety concerns in areas such as lock out tag out, machine guarding, and ergonomics.
•    Fulfill the requirements of the Quality Policy and Quality Management System
•    Setting up additive build files, post processing, part inspection, troubleshooting and process documentation – Preferred but not required
 

Qualifications:

 

Basic (Required) Qualifications: 

Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution5+ years experience in manufacturing engineering supporting productionCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorshipThis position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications: 

 

5-7+ years of manufacturing experience in Aerospace IndustryHands on mechanical/manufacturing experience               Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and teaming skills, solid analytical and reasoning skills.Working knowledge of production processes, lean manufacturing and quality control techniques, 5S, and Quality systems (e.g. QS 9000, ISO 14001, ISO-9001, AS9100) preferred.Experience with Fixed and Controlled ProcessesExperience with PPAPMachining BackgroundSet Up additive builds on Laser powder bed fusion and Electron Beam powder bed fusion machines using MagicsSkills: CAD Modeling experience:  Solid works/AutoCADPractical experience in mistake proofing (Poka-Yoke)Experienced in the design of simple jigs and fixtures.Proficient in the interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and TolerancingProficient in the use of MS OfficeStrong ethics, values and the ability to influence others’ decision making.Ability to manage multiple projects/activities; results driven.Process oriented and ability to contribute to continuous improvement.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of problem-solving methodologies and risk assessment tools (Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, PFMEA)
