JOB DESCRIPTION:

GV: Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Summary of the Role:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Lead Manufacturing Engineer would be responsible for defining, implementing, and controlling production process in assigned production areas at a low volume/high mix facility producing PCBA and electronics assemblies that are safety critical in nature for the railroad industry.

 

Responsibilities/duties

-Lead processes and automation in a high-mix, low-volume PCBA manufacturing facility

-Maintain production routings and optimizes process for cost effective production

-Provide the ready to serve support to the operation to ensure problem resolution and uptime

-Develop process, tool and technology roadmaps, along with business/CAPEX justifications

-Lead in the implementation of continuous improvement based on engineering analysis

-Program and refine recipes for automated PCBA assembly equipment (SMT, TH, Wave, Conformal Coat)

-Liaison between Operations and Engineering teams to advise on manufacturability, prototypes and support

-Provide mentoring to other Manufacturing Engineers, Technicians and interns.

-Collaborate with cross functional teams as the SME for PCBA manufacturing processes

 

Required Qualifications/Skills

-Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

-5+ years of Electronics/PCBA/ SMT operation and process engineering

-Proficiency in Screen Print, Pick and Place, Reflow and AOI

-Demonstrated ability to lead people and projects

-Working knowledge of electrical testing of printed circuit boards and testing of electrical assemblies

-Experience with IPC standards J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610

-Demonstrate good time management, communication and problem solving skills

 

Preferred Experience

-10+ years of Electronics/PCBA/ SMT operation and process engineering

-Proficiency in Wave, Selective and Conformal Coating

-Experience with low-volume, high-mix PCBA manufacturing

-Experience with FUJI placement machines and programming

-Experience overseeing direct reports

-Experience with IPC standards 7711/21, IPC-A-620

-Experience with through-hole insertion, wave solder and conformal coating lines
