Lead Massage Therapist/ DEM (Designated Establishment Manager)

The Lead Massage Therapist/ DEM (Designated Establishment Manager) is jointly responsible for ensuring operational compliance of the spa facility following the Florida Board of Massage Therapy in collaboration with the Community or Lifestyle Manager.  The Lead Massage Therapist must have industry knowledge and a fundamental understanding of each treatment protocol, revising and updating where necessary to ensure each treatment upholds the standards and expectations of the community.  Additionally, the Lead Massage Therapist/ DEM will perform a variety of modalities ranging from Swedish to deep-tissue Massage and must feel comfortable working with hot stones while incorporating commonly used massage techniques with their hands, fingers, and elbows, knees, forearms. Responsibilities include:

Manage any additional 1099 Massage Therapists. Ensure all posters (Human Trafficking and/or other state and board-required signs) are posted according to the law. * Keep the facility clean and organized. * Keep the facility clean and organized. * Consults with clients to assess their expectations ask questions related to pain or discomfort, and learn and/or update their medical histories as necessary and appropriate to the scope of treatment. Performs requested or suggested massage techniques, which may include Swedish massage, hot stone therapy, cranial massage, deep-tissue, and/or sports massage. Occasionally communicates with the client throughout the massage to ensure comfort with pressure levels and techniques being applied. Provides a relaxing environment for clients. Demonstrates and educates clients on methods to soothe and strengthen targeted muscles and tissues at home; may provide reference materials such as printed diagrams and materials or links to websites and videos for further guidance and instruction. Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records of clients. Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

*Essential Functions

Physical, Mental and Visual Skills:

Prolonged periods of standing and providing massages. Good verbal and organizational skills. Must have the necessary arm, hand, and finger strength and dexterity to provide massages. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Education and Experience requirements:

Active certification as a licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Florida Active CPR/ AED certification (or willingness to become certified within 30 days of hire date) CEU Certification in Human Trafficking course as required by state law Experience working in Hotel/ Resort spa and/or country club environment preferred 3+ years experience as a professional massage therapist

Working Conditions:

Works indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals, and or solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
