Lead Mech Design Engineer, Piping Material

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (piping Material) working in variety of Engineering projects. Candidate needs to be a knowledge source related to detail designers, fabricators, and coordinates a broad range of complex professional development, design, technology or quality assignments requiring extensive knowledge of advanced techniques and their application to specific projects and work with different disciplines in global engineering offices in support of modular projects and sales support.

Key responsibilities:

\n\nWorking with piping engineers and designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical support. Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of quality piping deliverables.\nReview and oversee piping design to ensure compliance with codes, standards and specifications.\nWorking with detail designers and module fabricators to address any piping material related queries, such as deviations request or RFIs.\nPrepare technical requisition packages for various piping components such as piping specialty items, spring supports, pressure relief valves and review vendor quotations.\nPrepare Piping Line List, review P&IDs and isometric drawings for conformance to the piping material specifications\nPrepare, develop and maintain Piping material classes (including the ones suitable for sour service and corrosive environment), manual valve specification, pipe fabrication, heat tracing, pipe & fitting materials, pipe supports, SP items etc.\nPrepare insulation specification for hot and cold services and perform insulation thickness calculations\nPerforming required piping engineering calculations such as wall thickness calculation, branch connection tables and branch reinforcement calculations\nReview Vendor Quotations for Technical Acceptability and completes Technical Bid Evaluations for all piping and valve components. .\nSupport projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning\nCollaborate with multi-discipline technical specialists to integrate piping across the full spectrum of projects and client solutions including piping designers and stress analysis engineers.\nFamiliar with piping NDE and post weld heat treatment requirements\nInspect piping components such as spring supports at vendor’s premises, or fabrication shops and prepare associated inspection report and release notes. Attend kickoff meetings with suppliers.\nParticipate in 3D model reviews, PID reviews and fabrication PIMs.\n\n

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\n7-10 years’ piping material experience in the refining, petrochemical or power generation industries with, Piping engineering principles, Piping design, fabrication and procurement.\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics\n\n

What we need:

\n\nBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, or related engineering discipline\nBeing familiar with relevant piping and valve material codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5, ASME B16.9, NACE MR0103, API 600, API 602\nAbility to travel 10-15% domestic and international\nPossess in-depth knowledge of piping engineering principles, materials, equipment, and construction techniques. Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in piping design and engineering.\nAssumes responsibility for cost, schedule, material quantity and budget control.\nExperience with field troubleshooting, repairs and site walk-downs experience.\nDevelop task and deliverable list with associated manhours estimate and schedule to support business development activities\nAbility to engage customers with high technical sophistication and drive customer's choices based on sound technical arguments.\nSpeaks, writes, and presents at the highest level of effectiveness and professionalism with diverse audiences\n\n

The annual base salary range for this position is $118k—$148k. This position is incentive plan eligible. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
