Lead Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer Job Description This individual will be working on projects from cradle to grave. This individual will work with customers to define what they are creating, take those parameters and come up with a concept, present that concept to customers, win the project, and start designing said project. Once the customer approves of the design, help create the build. Responsibilities + Mechanical Design of Custom Systems (65%) + Design in SolidWorks. + Work with lead engineer to develop innovative mechanical designs. + Collaborate with customers to solve production problems. + Create assembly and detail drawings. + Design and detail custom machined components as well as completing bill of materials for part ordering. + Develop expertise in material and labor costs for strategic applications. + Participate in reviews of designs. + Perform system cycle time, load, and spatial analysis. + Develop system sequence of operation to meet production requirements. + Control and maintain mechanical design budgets and schedule. + Support Assembly and Debug (35%) + Validate parts are correct to design upon receipt and organize for assembly. + Work with machine shops and fabricators. + Support shop technicians during assembly. + Debug mechanisms after assembly. + Develop relationships with vendors and fabricators. Essential Skills + Automation + Machine design + Mechanical engineering + SolidWorks + Mechanical problem solving + Project management Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or 5+ years equivalent work experience ideally in automation. + Good working knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic components is desirable, but not required. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD. + 5+ years of SolidWorks experience. + Project-focused over product-focused. + Great communication skills with internal employees (electrical, panel, software, production). Work Environment Clean, relatively quiet shop floor. Get to work with very smart individuals, managing individuals, and working collaboratively. Create new ideas and bring them to life with a lot of creativity and problem-solving, very hands-on. Feedback from the shop floor on design, go help debug/troubleshoot. There are a bunch of different audiences, internal customers, external customers, working with different audiences having to adjust, a lot of variety, project-based side due to variety. Healthcare is low-cost, 401K is very fair and on target with the current market. Vacation/holiday schedule is great.
