Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) – Mercy Health Clermont Hospital

Job Summary:

The Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. As a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) it is important to support the Technical Specialist in the performance of tasks that enhance the operations of the laboratory.

Essential Functions: 

Performs the duties of a Medical Lab ScientistAssists Technical Specialist with the implementation of new procedures and policiesCollaborates with the Technical Specialist in coordinating the proficiency testing program to ensure that all testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed to meet established deadlinesRecommends system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow and ensure daily operational efficienciesCompletes schedules of department and updates time/schedule as necessary for daily operationsFulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the positionOther duties as assigned

Education:

Bachelor of Science in one of the following: Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)

Certifications:

MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)

Experience:

At least 2 years of clinical lab experienced required5 years of clinical lab experience preferred, but not required2 years of leadership preferred, but not required

Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-pasted environment Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
