FT/PT/PD: Full-Time Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Share: Apply Now Save Job Saved **Description** Summary: The Lead Medical Technologist is responsible for assuming a supervisory role in the laboratory. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the assigned department. Population served based on scope of services in the department. Responsibilities: 1. Overseeing staff and activities of the department - Ensures adequate staffing and determines priorities/workflows. Writes and revise all SOP’s for the assigned department. 2. Ensures supplies and reagents are accurately ordered. Supervises preventive maintenance of equipment. Troubleshooting problems associated with instrumentation. 3. Supervises and evaluates the work of department staff. Handles call outs/vacation requests/controls overtime. Performs department training and competencies. 4. Enforces all PPE Requirements as per safety guidelines. 5. Evaluates new test methodology. Uses appropriate documentation forms for new instrument/methodology. 6. Evaluates Performance Improvement indicators. Reviews QC according to policy. 7. Reviews required reports and department related work in a timely manner. Implements quality control measures, documenting remedial action taken for detected deficiencies. 8. Orders appropriate proficiency test. Ensures all testing is complete and entered in website before deadline. Check results and review with Medical Director 9. Prepares for accrediting agency inspections. Investigate root cause of any unacceptable result, discuss with Medical Director and complete necessary paperwork. 10. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies. Prepares for and participates in all inspections 11. Processes, reports, and implements corrective action for NYSDOH and CAP surveys. Prepares responses and plan of action for any deficiencies. 12. Performs Phlebotomy duties as required. 13. Maintain and Model REACH Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor) 14. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance 15.
