Job Title: Lead Medical TechnologistJob Description Candidate must have a NY State Medical Technologist license or Medical Laboratory Science degree. The role involves performing routine CBC, Platelet Concentrate Quality control, counting WBC using a visual counting method in leukodepleted blood or packed red cells products, pH testing of Platelets, and processing and examining peripheral blood smears. In Microbiology Testing, responsibilities include SDP Bacterial Impurities Alert, which involves sampling and inoculation using a BPA culture bottle to detect aerobic microorganisms in blood. The lead techs serve as point persons, expected to work the bench, provide guidance, and address unexpected issues such as instrument malfunctions by coordinating with service and following up with the supervisor. Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Westbury, New York. Work Environment Sun-Wed from 2pm to 12 midnight (4 days, 10 hours a day). Candidate must be open to working weekends and holidays on a rotating shift. Initial training on the first shift for the first 6 weeks until fully trained. A full work week is 37.5 hours, though currently employees are working 40 hours. The lead tech will oversee 1-2 employees, with the lab supervisor involved before 4PM, and the lead tech working independently after 6PM.
