Under general supervision, The Lead Medical Technologist is accountable to perform laboratory procedures and evaluations in order to assist physicians in diagnosis and to provide quality patient care. As a technologist in our microbiology laboratory, you will perform all aspects of routine and complex testing. You will apply knowledge of techniques, principles, quality control, theory and instrumentation as well as test interdependency and physiological conditions affecting test results, critical result limits, normal ranges and/ or toxic or therapeutic ranges, to ensure accuracy. You will recognize, troubleshoot and initiate corrective action for problems in a timely manner. In addition under your role as a lead technologist you will be responsible for lead technologist duties, assignments, and assist the Laboratory Supervisor.


Primary Responsibilities:

Accurately identifies patients and patient samples per policy Maintains specimen integrity Efficiently and accurately reports results from computer screen Documents received and open dates on supplies as required by policy Effectively communicates status of workload to supervisor or incoming staff member Demonstrates use of the most commonly used functions of the Laboratory Information System Prepares and maintains analytical equipment in proper operating condition in accordance with specific policy and procedure Follows laboratory guidelines when test systems are not within acceptable limits Assists supervisor in development, implementation, and evaluation of new techniques, methods or procedures Assumes technical supervisory role in absence of Department Supervisor (MT only)

Lead Technologist

Provides technical support to the clinical MTs, MLTs, or  CLSs through the management of the clinical laboratory analyzers/ instruments Reviews pending reports Responsible for critical call list Monitors and orders supplies Arranges coverage for breaks and meals, and enter schedules in Kronos Orients and trains new team members Leads monthly huddles Fills in for Laboratory Supervisor as needed

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree or categorical experience & certification Certification as a Medical Technologist American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Technologist (MT, ASCP),  Medical Lab Scientist (MLS, ASCP), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist  (CLS, ASCP)


Preferred Qualification:

1+ years laboratory experience


Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for Washington residents is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour.
