The mentor is responsible for working with student - athletes who are experiencing academic difficulties and/or have newly matriculated to Utah State University. The mentor’s role is to serve as a supportive resource for student-athletes and provide them with tools and resources to help them mitigate their identified challenges. Mentoring helps student-athletes learn fundamental academic success skills that can help them become more effective at self-regulating their own learning. The position will be utilized mostly in the area of handling tutor/mentoring appointments and training.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

Oversee scheduling of tutor and mentoring appointmentsCreate monthly reports indicating academic session dataOversee no-show policy communicationServe as a mentor in student-athlete academic services (SAAS) department (when needed)Assist in SAAS training of all tutors and mentorsCommunicate to campus faculty and staff and recruiting of tutors

Mentoring sessions do not include: 

Subject tutoringPersonal CounselingCourse Advisement/Eligibility Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Junior, senior or graduate studentExternal university candidates must have a bachelor’s degreeExperience working with excel and scheduling softwareMust be ethical, responsible and professionalExcellent interpersonal and communication skills Required Documents

Advertised Salary $16.00 per hour ADA

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
