MITRE’s Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Program Division seeks a MITRE staff member with a passion for cyber security engineering.  MITRE N262 MDA Sensors and C4ISR Department provides technical expertise to MITRE’s MDA Program across the Ground Sensors domains.

As an experienced cyber security engineer, you will apply engineering principles and expertise to bring technical solutions to bear on the government’s toughest challenges in the acquisition, design, testing, integration, verification, and fielding of Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) capabilities.

The job is a Lead Step, Colorado Springs, CO-based position; this work location is on-site and required to effectively foster staff and government relationships and shape the direct work program. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Work in concert with the MITRE MDA Project Teams and the MDA/C2BMC government sponsor, you will act as a Network Operations engineer on technical matters relating to the technical planning, development, and integration of C2BMC modernization and rapid reconstitution with emphasis on operational integrity and baseline managementDeliver technical recommendations to MDA/C2BMC government and contractor system engineers on system modernization and DevSecOps.Provide technical recommendations in system requirements, design, implementation, configuration management, testing, failure review boards, and various evaluations of the C2BMC system and development.Develop technical concepts and recommendations that consider risk, extensibility, and affordabilityInform and implement plans for prototyping and concept development in partnership with the government and contractorsTechnical acquisition assessments to the government program management, contractual statement of work (SOW) development, technical contract evaluation, and contract negotiation technical expertiseHave willingness to work within a government integrated product team environment partnering technical outcomes across multiple stakeholders and organizations

Basic Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Information technologies or systems, or related technical degree8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. This position requires ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.Must be familiar with the NIST SP 800-160 Volume 2, Developing Cyber Resilient Systems and its application to DoD national security systems.Experience with DoD Command and Control systems and/or experience with DoD acquisitions.Experience with applying Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) planning and principles.Experience participating in a team of engineers in design, implementation, and deployment of DCO or systems security engineering solutions.Developing and implementing DCO techniques to enable IT enable systems to operate through contested cyber environments.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$153,000 - $191,500 - $230,000 Annual
