**Description**
**Job Purpose:** The Registered Nurse (RN) Lead is responsible for organizing, directing, and implementing the daily care of MCFI’s Pediatric Skilled Nursing program clients. The RN Lead is accountable for overseeing PSN's clinical and administrative staff members, providing resources, mentorship, and directives for staff, preserving the quality and integrity of the program, and following applicable regulations and standards. The RN Lead reports to the clinical manager of the PSN.

+ Leads clinical staff on the floor, such as RNs and CNAs, to ensure clinical skills are carried out accurately and competently to meet the standards of care established by Pediatric Skilled Nursing.
+ Responsible for orienting, training, and assessing the skills of new staff, students, and volunteers to the program.
+ Mentors PSN staff and leads the development of staff by identifying the educational needs of the staff and assisting in the development or organization of training programs to meet these needs.
+ Assumes responsibility for the intake of new clients, POT Development, admission paperwork, insurance verification, and family follow-up.
+ Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care based on the patient’s physical, psychological, emotional, and mental well-being following the Treatment Plan, the patient's needs, and the family's needs.
+ On an ongoing basis, makes patient assessments and revises the Treatment Plan as deemed necessary in collaboration with the physician
+ Carries out clinical skills with accuracy and competency to meet the standards of care established by Pediatric Skilled Nursing.
+ Maintains compliance with DHS 105 and DCF 251 regulations in developing, reviewing, and implementing client treatment plans and treatment plan addendums.
+ Audits clinical charting, staff, and patient files to ensure compliance with DHS 105 and DCF 251 regulations and established standards of care.
+ Is cognizant of case management and educational needs of patients/families and implements a plan with established outcomes and timelines.
+ Assists in developing short-term and long-term goals and quality improvement measures for the program.
+ Assumes responsibility for the clinical manager in the absence of the clinical manager at any given time.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure, and Credentials:** _(Where appropriate,_ _education and/or experience may be substituted)_
**Minimum Required Education:** Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
**Minimum Required Experience:** Two (2) years of recent clinical experience in NICU, PICU, Pediatrics, Home health care, Public Health, or other pediatric settings, with at least six months of that time specializing in caring for children and young adults with special health care needs.
**Required License/Certification/Registration** Issued by Governing Body (if applicable): Current WI Nursing License, without limitations incompatible with duties, responsibilities, supervision, or practice setting.
Must either be CPR certified at the start of employment or complete a CPR certification course within 90 days of employment. Must maintain active CPR certification through periodic renewal as dictated by the certification.
Knowledge of community-based health and social service systems and principles and resources as they relate to the needs of children with significant health care needs.
Knowledge of federal, state, county, and private funding and programmatic guidelines.

**Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions:**
**Physical Requirements:** Frequently, the person must be able to move, transport, position, push/pull, and/ or lift objects or equipment weighing at least 50 pounds at a distance of 450 feet. The person must also safely push a person in a wheelchair on a level floor or a wheelchair ramp in various weather conditions. The person must also be able to transfer a person from a wheelchair to the toilet, chair, or van seat/car with the use of a gait belt and/or manual or power Hoyer lift.
**Visual Acuity:** The worker must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
**Working Conditions:** Ability to successfully deal with change and potentially stressful situations.
This position is responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of consumers in standard program settings and various community settings. As such, this position must be able to observe consumer activities, detect areas of danger, distinguish when non-communicative consumers need personal care, and converse clearly with consumers and other people in the community on a frequent basis. PSN operates from 6AM to 6PM, five days per week and requires flexibility to cover the needs of the business as it evolves and changes.
