Summary About the position: This position is located in the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, an AFRC Facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavarian Alps, Germany. The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of tasks as a Lead Operations Assistant (Security) in the Security Department. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a Lead Operations Assistant (Security) with primary responsibilities for maintaining order and harmony among patrons and securing the facilities and grounds at an Armed Forces Recreations Center located on a military installation. Independently perform safety/law enforcement, fire protection/prevention, and emergency operations duties. Must be able to operate a radio, monitor and operate CCTV equipment, and identify and correct safety and/or security issues. Respond to medical emergencies and be able to perform needed first aid, including CPR and the use of an AED. Know how to respond to and correct problems (if required) with the fire alarm system and when to contact maintenance personnel for immediate service. Be able to program and interrogate door locks and make keys for employees, contractors, and guests using an RFID lock system. Know how to operate a key watcher system. Correct issues/problems with in-room guest safes. Respond to disturbances and be able to determine if local law enforcement must be contacted. Must know, understand, and enforce evacuation, force protection, safety and security plans, policies, and procedures. Alert and direct first responders during emergencies. Take statements from guests or employees and write incident Information reports, attach required material, and forward to responsible resort departments as needed. Perform security at designated areas and patrol resort grounds. Make routine checks of gates, doors, buildings, and equipment, ensuring safety and security. Maintain resort keys and issued them to employees and contractors as required. Escort personnel within the resort as needed. Maintain a log of authorized visitors. Dispatch fellow security officers to areas throughout the resort grounds when needed. Perform vehicle inspections when required. Perform customer service work that contributes to the well-being of our guests and employees. Check the ID cards of persons entering the resort. Use tact and diplomacy to deny entrance to unauthorized personnel or to remove those not adhering to the resort's policies. Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and security standards. Be familiar with the calendar of events in order to inform guests/patrons of scheduled events. Ensure uniform is maintained neatly and professionally at all times. You are the first impression a guest will have of the resort. Maintain assigned area in a clean and orderly manner. Report all maintenance issues immediately to a supervisor or maintenance department for repair. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and golf cart. Train security officers on your shift to fulfill the tasks above. Fill in for the Supervisor during his/her absence. Requirements Conditions of Employment QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Related experience as described above. Previous security experience preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Be able to read, understand, and follow safety and security plans, policies, and procedures. Must be able to speak English clearly to give directions and explain policy. Must be able to operate and use various safety and other electronic and automated equipment (fire alarm, CCTV, radios, computers, etc.) to provide for the safety, protection, and well-being of our guests and employees and government property. The ability to work a rotating schedule that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience or knowledge of Microsoft Office software. A valid driver's license is required for positions that require the incumbent to drive and operate a motor vehicle. Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification. Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3 to include a National Agency Check (NAC). Must be bondable. Qualifications Work experience performing similar duties. Must have demonstrated experience in training and leading employees. Must have a valid drivers license. Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification. Must have one year of post-high school experience in the service industry, or one year of post-high school education. Education High School graduate. Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Additional Information This is a limited tenure position not to exceed 15 months. It is an unaccompanied program because we cannot provide logistical support to family members. Dorm-style housing is provided in lieu of a living quarters allowance. Transportation to and from Germany is provided in accordance with the terms of the Joint Travel Regulation and the executed transportation agreement. Military spouses and family members currently residing within the Garmisch Military Community who apply under this announcement will be considered for a regular appointment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. A probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligibility. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the government's interest. LQA is not authorized. This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Army.
