What you will do:
Coach and lead phlebotomists in all areas of phlebotomy. Ensure that all phlebotomists are following proper procedures. Resolves technical and patient problems according to established procedures. Accessible to the laboratory as needed. Maintains that all phlebotomists are adequately oriented and trained and that all is documented. Keeps Director informed of all phlebotomy activities and personnel issues. Provides technical and consultative support for specimen collection at all hospital related services including, but not limited to, inpatient, ER, Corporate Health, Urgent Cares, FPG offices, nursing homes and lab collection centers. Performs monthly rounding of outside clients to keep up with their needs. Maintains positive, open communication with lab customers and clients. Attends Q.A. meetings at the nursing homes. Monthly scheduling, as well as daily scheduling due to call-offs. Participates in the interview and selection process for customer service and phlebotomy. Contributes feedback to Director for evaluations of the phlebotomy team. Enforces and follows all lab safety rules and reports any possible hazard to Director. Shares appropriate communication with other lab personnel involving difficult venipunctures, reason for delays, etc. Assists in the development and implementation of processes to enhance customer service and patient and employee satisfaction. Greets patients and correctly enters physician orders into the laboratory computer system obtaining any necessary information from the outpatients. Performs patient registration duties as required. Performs proper patient identification during all specimen collections. Answers phones, completes requests, and relays messages. Maintains current knowledge of all computer applications necessary to carry out job duties. Provides clear and complete communication and documentation to co-workers, patients, and clients using all tools available. Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.What you will need:
High school graduate or equivalent. Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certificate required. Previous phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting required. CPR/BLS certification required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive impression of the Medical Center at all times. Ability to handle sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries. Computer skills required. Ability to be mobile. Ability to read and write small letters and numbers. Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form to management, co-workers, patients, visitors, and members of the general public. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes. Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms. Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
