Most importantly we are looking for qualified candidates from within the financial services software arena preferably out of such companies as Markit, Eagle, SunGard, SmartStream, Informatica, Murex, Linedata, Charles River, Fidessa, Broadridge, DST, Asset Control, S&P, Xignite, Misys, Smartco, AIM, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, etc. In addition, we need the level of experience specified in our postings as we are leanly staffed and given the complexity of our suite of products, really cannot comprise industry experience or related work experience.
POSITION: Pre-sales Consultant - The Pre-sales Consultant is as an integral member of our Americas’ Sales team responsible for business development; product sales and license revenue generation; and product and demo environment support. Incumbent is responsible for assisting Sales team in driving revenue by helping to qualify accounts; answering requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs); preparing and delivering solution-based product presentations and demonstrations; and executing on client proof of concepts (POCs) which meet business requirements. In addition, incumbent will assist Sales team with lead generation and other pre-sales and sales-related projects and assignments.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Pre-sales Consultant is instrumental in providing domain expertise related to company products to identify software solutions in response to client needs throughout the pre-sales and sales processes. Incumbent will be engaged in all aspects of pre-sales activities from understanding and analyzing a client’s business needs; identifying and offering potential financial software solutions; demonstrating and presenting client's solution-based products; responding to RFIs, RFPs and other client requests on a timely basis; channeling product improvement feedback to Product Management and, working with Professional Services and Support in successful deployment of the product. In addition, Pre-sales Consultant will be responsible for managing projects using his/her strong project management skills and prior knowledge and understanding of financial software cycles. Responsibilities will also include:
• Sales: Help qualify a sales opportunity and proactively engage in sales cycle. Have a clear understanding of sales methodologies and effectively apply them in a sales situation. Be able talk with different audiences, appropriately adjust technical content to meet different audience’s knowledge and interest, and effectively conduct meetings with multiple audience levels. Clear ability to handle client objections by determining real business problem, articulating clients ability to solve client’s problems and finding creative solutions are a must. Must develop ability to effectively position clients products against the competition.
• Domain Expert: Will be expected to describe clients products and how they interact with third party technologies and client landscapes in order to assess client’s business problem and recommend appropriate solutions. When complex problems requiring out-of-the-box thinking arise, will document a solution and articulate business value to client. Recognizes need and has ability to continuously update domain knowledge, market drivers and clients products and modules.
• Interpersonal: Demonstrated ability to persuade or influence others to accept a point of view, to adopt a specific agenda or to take a course of action. Ability to be rational, objective and unbiased when making decisions or taking action. Must be open, flexible and creative as it relates to time management and scheduling challenges. The successful candidate must have strong communications and presentation skills. A demonstrated understanding of financial markets and proven competency in preferably instrument and market data across multiple asset classes including derivatives or other datasets (e.g. entity/product data). Solid knowledge of transaction lifecycles and data flows within either investment/asset management, investment banking or asset servicing sectors is expected. Direct or indirect experience in one or more of the following areas is required: portfolio management, product control, order management, reference data management, risk, compliance, performance measurement and attribution, position keeping, profit and loss reporting and/or client reporting. Must possess a basic knowledge of Business Intelligence requirements for an organization with preference for experience within different business verticals.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree required preferably in computer science or finance.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience required in financial services, investment and/or asset management with instrument knowledge across multiple asset classes is required. Prior work experience in consultancy or software vendor specializing in capital markets or asset management is preferred. Functionally, experience may have been gained in one or more of the following areas: compliance, risk, product control and generally front, middle office or back office functions, involvement in the implementation of front office/back office systems, pre-sales of capital markets, treasury or asset management solutions.
• Good technical background is required including understanding/experience in writing SQL with relational databases and preferably Oracle.
• Must be a skilful, crisp and credible oral and written communicator who excels in delivering demonstrations and presentations.
• Ability and willingness to travel locally and domestically sometimes on short notice; up to 30% travel of 1-2 day duration.
